Annual Award for Alumni
Member(s) of the Year
The Executive Board of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy Alumni Association
(VFSAAA) announces “VFSAAA Member
of the Year” award. The award will be given annually at the Retraining Conference in Virginia Beach and will be presented at the General Membership Meeting. The Awardees will
be selected by the VFSAAA Awards Committee which is comprised of the current SGT-at
Arms and the four Regional Directors. 2004 will be the first year for presentation. One award will be given out to a member
from each Region.
The award is intended for members of the VFSAAA who have done outstanding work involving a particular case or for a member who has continuously excelled
in the field of Crime Scene Technology.
Rules/Conditions:
1.
The Awardees must be a current
member of the VFSAAA.
2.
Awardees must have been a member
of the VFSAAA during case/incident in question.
3.
The awards will be given at
the annual retraining conference held in August in Virginia Beach.
4.
Time frame for the awards are
as followed; Consideration/nomination is June of one year to May of the next,
This takes into account the following time frame for the year in question:
a. Announcement to the membership after the Fall Executive Board Meeting in November.
Renouncement again in February. The announcements will be made members listed in the membership roster. Announcements will
go out via E-mail.
b. Nominations must be to the Regional Directors by the end of May; the best
time to have them in is during Regional Spring Update meeting.
c. The award committee will make its choice(s) by end of June.
d. Awardees will be notified in late July.
e. Awards will be given out in August at the Annual Re-training conference in
Virginia Beach.
5.
Considerations of Award selection:
a. A case/incident where the member showed exceptional or dedicated work.
b. A case/incident where the member went above and beyond the call of duty.
c. A case/incident where the member developed a new investigative/processing
technique.
d. Extreme dedication to the field of Crime Scene Technology.
6.
Nomination can come from anyone,
the person nominating does not have to be a member of the VFSAAA
nor does the nominator have to be within the region of the person nominated.
7.
The nomination should included
identifying information of the nominator and identifying information of the nominee, along with the following information;
a. It should also include the reason for nomination;
If it involves
a case, an overview of should be submitted along with any supporting documentation
pertaining to the case (commendations, news articles, other awards and or recognition)
If it involves outstanding work over a period of years
supporting information should also be submitted
8.
The Awards Committee will be
comprised of the SGT-at-Arms (chairperson) and each Regional Director.
9.
The award will consist of a
plaque to the individual and the placement of the awardees name on plaque at the VFSA.
